The Lismore Turf Club is looking for a dynamic person wishing to forge a career in the fast paced racing industry to become its new Secretary/Manager.
The position includes organisation of all raceday operations including the popular Lismore Cup, management of all financial matters & reporting, promotion & marketing, staff supervision plus promotion of non-raceday functions.
Experience in the racing industry is an advantage but not essential.

Position Description
SECRETARY/MANAGER LISMORE TURF CLUB
The Secretary/Manager is responsible to the Board of Directors of the Lismore Turf Club for the conduct of all operations of the Club. In particular s/he is responsible for:
- ORGANISATION OF RACING OPERATIONS
- Overseeing through RISA the nominations, acceptances, jockey declarations, collation of fields, race times and race order.
- Programming of race meetings and submissions to NRRA and Racing NSW
- Organization, employment and supervision of casual race day staff
- Preparation of race meeting stationery, race day returns
- Attention to bookmakers draw ‑ organization of betting ring
- Preparation of post race day returns
- Responsibility for race day office and cash control to banking
- ALL FINANCIAL MATTERS RELATING TO THE CLUB
- Maintain all financial records and prepare all financial records each month on behalf of the Treasurer.
- Prepare and monitor the Clubs budget
- Attention to all matters relating to staff group tax and superannuation
- Preparation of salaries
- Receive, receipt and bank all monies due to the Club
- Review all monies received from Racing NSW through the Scheme of Distribution
- Responsibility for ensuring auditors requirements are submitted on time
- Maintain a Register of Equipment and Assets
- GROUND, TRACK AND BUILDING MAINTENANCE
Ensuring that the curator:
- Maintain LTC course proper, B grass and sand track in a condition that is suitable for horse
racing and horse training;
- Maintain other club facilities that support racing in good condition and in good working order,
including: railing and fencing; dams; drains, irrigation system;
- Maintain club surroundings in a neat, attractive condition, including: centre of the racecourse,
lawns, mounting yard, club entrances, garden beds;
- Assist in maintaining club buildings and other improvements;
- Undertake minor repairs as required to club facilities and equipment;
- Supervise any additional track and garden maintenance staff, including casual staff,
- Liaise with lessees of Club stables.
- PROMOTING AND MARKETING THE LTC
- Promote the interests of the Club to the media, racing industry authorities, licensed persons, owners, patrons, and other members, of the community.
- Seek sponsorship for race days, particularly feature race days.
- Establish and maintain communication with major sponsors.
- Develop methods for increasing revenue.
- Promote the use of Club facilities on non‑race days.
- Act as the Club's publicity officer
- Establish and maintain effective communication with the users of the Club's facilities.
- OTHER DUTIES
- Act as Company Secretary of the LTC
- Prepare all matters relating to Committee and Sub‑Committee Meetings, including preparation of monthly bank reconciliation statements.
- Responsibility for matters relating to catering and the bar operation, including purchases, stock control, equipment and financial returns.
- Responsibility for provision of security for Club premises and race day operations.
- Prepare all club statistics
- General clerical and computer work as directed
- Attend promptly to all inward and, outward mail
- Purchase and control of office stationery and equipment
- Maintain the members' register
- Organize the Election for the Board of Directors as per Constitution
- Reports to the Chairman and Directors on issues affecting the running of the LTC
- Responsible for OHS Management & Training
