Lismore's CEO Tenders Resignation

The Secretary/Manager of the Lismore Turf Club, Michael Timbrell, has resigned but will not
leave the club until after the cup carnival next month.

Mr Timbrell submitted his resignation to the club's board last Tuesday night after accepting
an Executive Officer position with another Northern Rivers based organisation.

The XXXX Gold Lismore cup meeting will be held on Thursday, September 22 and Timbrell
will complete his duties with the club the following week.

His resignation ends eleven and a half years with the club and sixteen and a half years with
the racing industry in an administrative role.

"l have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Lismore Turf Club and with the racing industry but
feel it is time to move on to new challenges and a new field of endeavour," Timbrell said.

"l will not be severing my ties completely with racing and would like to find a new role some
time in the future. lt has been a pleasure to work with the board of the Lismore Turf Club
and the industry participants."

Michael began his career in racing soon after graduating from Newcastle University with an
economics degree.

He was Assistant Secretary/Manager with Clarence River Jockey Club at Grafton before
accepting the position of Secretary/Manager at Orange.

That was during the time when the Orange track was being re-built and before Orange
joined forces with Bathurst to establish the Golden West Race Club.

It was from there that he moved to Lismore, something of a home coming for him.

Chairman of the Lismore Turf CIub, Mr Ron Marriott commented:- "lt is with regret that
racing on the Northern Rivers has lost a great C.E.O. and racing man who has given so much
to this code. Michael's knowledge of racing will be missed however the Lismore Turf Club
committee wishes Michael and his family all the very best for the future."
